At Frontier Land Works, we know how troublesome water erosion can be on your property. That’s why we are dedicated to going above and beyond to protect your property with effective erosion control methods based on your needs.
Depending on your property and what problems you’re dealing with, we have 3 usual ways we deal with erosion control.
If soil is being washed down a hilly area of your property, adding topsoil and establishing grass can effectively manage the water erosion.
We will add topsoil over the eroded area, spread it out, and grade it with a bulldozer or skid steer. We compact the soil during this process to ensure solid soil stabilization.
After the topsoil is added, we seed or hydromulch the area to support vegetation growth. If necessary, we add an erosion carpet to help establish the grass. This fabric will protect the seeds while they grow and decompose after the grass takes root.
The grass roots are what holds the soil together. This is why topsoil is added, to provide the required nutrients and soil composition to promote grass growth.
This method is an effective choice for water erosion in ditches. We’ll dig and regrade the ditch and then install in rip rap. We’ll layer the ditch with 6-12-inch stones that will lay in the bottom of the ditch.
This allows water to flow through the rocks rather than wash away the soil.
If water is washing away soil going over a road or you are looking to create a creek crossing, culverts may be the answer. Culverts can be used to direct water flow off of a road and create crossings over ditches and creeks.
Culverts can help you gain full access to the rest of your property.
